The Creative Process
The shop is a workroom as well as a gallery for finished products. Shelves and cubbyholes overflow with a multitude of vintage fabrics as well as ribbon for trim to complete the shades.
Vintage fabric panels are prepared for the hex bell wire frame.
Fabric panels are each marked for the perfect snug fit.
Fabric panels are trimmed for each frame.
A thin bead of glue is applied to the wire frame, preparing it for the fabric panel.
Grosgrain trim is applied to the top and bottom of the shade.
The grosgrain ribbon is worked around the edges of the frame for a snug fit.
Vintage fabric trim is prepared for the shade. Contrasting trim often adds visual interest to the design.
The trim is then applied around the edge. The finish work is always the hardest part of the job.
Vintage fabric shades can be created from a wide array of great old fabrics. Custom shades are available using your own family heirloom linens. It's a great use for a treasured textile that often stays unseen in your closet.

If you are visiting Vermont, I hope you'll plan to visit my shop. If you love fabrics, you'll love my shop. A call ahead is always suggested.
